Bigpoint game has brought us yet another browser based MMO titles Warmachines. This game is based on tank warfare. Players will explore vast islands and use their terrain tactically to defeat both other players and computer controlled bots. A great crafting system also adds to the fun and players will be able to collect items while exploring and build weapons and upgrades from these items. Improving your tank is done very easily via a balanced market and a crafting system. Guilds and teamwork is very important in this game and players will team up with others to conquer their opponents. The game also offers some of the best graphics out of the browser based world and packs a lot of action into one small browser. In Warmachines, you are a mercenary who must control islands and defeat enemies. PVP is a large part of this game as players will fight for their island as well as their faction. Warmachines is another successful hit from Bigpoint and won’t disappoint.

4. Legendary Champions

Legendary Champions is a new F2P 3D MMO that was recently announced by Aeria games. The game challenges players to adventure into vast and unexplored territory in a fantasy world and compete in DOTA-Styled PVP as well as battlegrounds. The closed beta is set to begin at the end of summer in 2010 and is a highly anticipated title. There are over sixty champions to choose from, each with their own skills and abilities to turn the tide in the player’s favor. Teamwork is necessary and valuable in Legendary Champions as players will work together for a common goal. Players must conquer dungeons and epic monsters as they dive into this fantasy world. 5.World of Lordcraft

World of Lordcraft is a fantasy browser based MMO that is in no way connected to the hit MMO World of Warcraft. In World of Lordcraft, players will build cities and expand their empire in a Chine environment. PVE is a major part of this as players will fight against computer controlled bots for land and resources. PVP is very fun as players will team up with others and form guilds and alliances to destroy opposing members on the battlefield. This adds a fun and exciting twist to a very good game. There are some minor bugs with the game but nothing that will interfere with the awesome gameplay that World of Lordcraft has to offer. The game does pull a lot of history from World of Warcraft such as the Alliance and Horde factions. This adds more tension in PVP as it will decide who reigns supreme. The areas of particular interest are also similar to World of Warcraft but do not give the same feeling. Blade Wars is a 2.5D F2P MMO that is being published by Changyou and is currently in Open Beta phase. There are three playable factions that offer different classes which is textbook to MMOs but the combat in this game is very unique and stands out the most. There is a lot of animation and flashy skills in Blade Wars which act as eye candy for players. There are combo chains for players to perform and hundreds of skills to use. There are countless quests for players to do in which they will be rewarded with experience, items and upgrades. The music in this game relates a Chinese feel to the game which his perfect but the graphics is unfortunately mediocre, being the only real let down to this title. The guild wars in this game are tremendously fun and teamwork is the key to success. The game’s tutorial system is very detailed and will allow players to get into the game quickly and perfect the game. Blade Wars is an impressive 2.5D MMO and deserves a try.

7.Pet Forest

Pet Forest is a F2P MMO hosted by Playomg that is based solely on pets. There is a lot of combat, crafting, collecting and exploration to do in this adorable looking game and pets are always at your side, to assist you in every situation. The world has a lot of events to get players pets and accessories. There are two classes to choose from, the priest and the warrior. The priest is the healer while the warrior is the all out attacker. Pets usually take the same route as their master and will follow the master’s every command, once treated well. Treatment to the pet is an important part of the game as pets will not help players if not treated well. The game’s community is very kind and helpful and gives many guides to help players find their way through the world. Pet Forest is a game that anyone can enjoy and have fun with so try it out and you won’t regret it.

Freejack is a free to play racing game where players race head to head across many maps in New Jack City as one of four characters. Players can use a lot of tricks and skills in races which add fun and excitement to the game. It will increase their speed and lead them to hidden pathways to have an extra edge on opponents. The game also has low system requirements but has a lot to offer with flashy skills and awesome combat. It is based on ancient times and as fierce PVP between two realms which are in war with each other. There is also five different classes to choose from, each with its own skills to enhance and upgrades. Different weapons are unlocked for every character and these weapons are used to defeat opponents quickly and ravenously. The economy is extremely balanced allowing players to have a steady cash flow in and out and for PVP to be balanced. Dungeons are important in this game and are fun to do with a group. Overall, Soul Order is a game that anyone can play and enjoy.

11.World of Tanks

World of Tanks is a popular team based MMO entering closed beta very soon. It is set in the World War II environment where you are the controller of a tank and must defeat enemies in multiple exciting missions. It follows history very closely and you control tanks of Germany, America and the Soviet Union. Customization in this game is limitless as players will use rewards to upgrade their weapons and tanks. The game is a mixture of simulation and RPG elements which uses strategy to make it stand out. All these elements combine to make an explosive action based game. New players are sent onto the battlefield immediately, either combating other computer controlled opponents or fighting against real enemies. The player vs Player factor in this game is out of this world and there are many epic tank clashes. The game also requires deep squad based tactics. Players are on teams and must combat their opponents as a team; otherwise there will be no success. PVE is another major part of this game as players set out on their journey to conquer the world, leveling up and collecting new items as they go on. All in all, World of Tanks proves to a fresh game that we should look forward to.

Setup

Mortal Online’s setup process was so long and monotonous that I felt it required its own section. Upon starting up Mortal Online, you’ll be faced with what will most likely be a good 8 hours of patching. For me, it took close to 24 hours to patch the game entirely, and I’m still left with a bad taste in my mouth after that. You could easily go into your Mortal Online folder, open the torrents it uses in your favorite BitTorrent program and move on with life, but you’d still have to revisit the launcher after each patch to get the next torrent. You’d also have to manually patch the game, as opposed to simply letting the launcher do it for you.

Gameplay

Upon logging into Mortal, you’re faced with a character creation screen. You can have 5 characters, each entirely unique, and you can create and delete as many as you want without penalties. In fact, you may have to several times in order to find your favorite starter build and starting zone. Unfortunately, starter zones are now race locked, and you may not get your favorite combination like you could have in beta (I couldn’t get Toxai and be an Oghmir) but you’ll most likely not notice unless your starter area is just plain irritating.

Once you’ve chosen your race (as stated above, I chose Oghmir) and chosen your age (it actually affects stats!), you are faced with a few character customization options. Unles at the absolute extremes, other players may never notice any difference between you and the next guy other than hair style, but you can still do a little fine tuning and make it at least look good to you. To some people, that’s enough.

From there, you can place your starting attributes. You get something like 25 points to spread out over 10 or so attributes. Unfortunately, unless you want to start with a definite build, your efforts here seem all but useless, as you can easily train and detrain these attributes later on during actual gameplay. After that, you choose a specific class which defines your starting skills (again, pretty much useless, as you can learn just about anything else for a price by buying a knowledge tome) and defines how you’re going to be grinding for cash for the majority of your new game experience.

It should be noted that by this point it’s clear that the game is extremely NSFW, as your character is naked with full frontal nudity the entire time you’re creating him/her.

And so it began. I started as an Armorcrafter, mined some granum, and after exploring my skills, came to realize just how screwed up the newbie experience was. Thought you were confused before? Try to explain why you have mining and armor crafting, but not refining. Wait, what? At this point, I almost gave up in frustration (in the beta, you automatically had all skills, and you just had to put your extremely limited skill point pool into a skill to improve it), but I soldiered on. After spending half an hour mining granum (and yielding very little of it), I went to a vendor. Upon trying to sell it, another change became apparent to me. It’s not worth anything to vendors. Sigh. I now had to either craft my own armor and weapons with skills I didn’t have and sell them, or buy them with money I didn’t have from other players.

Back in beta, I had actually made it decently far in the game, but at this point in time, as a less hardcore player than Mortal apparently demands, I was completely lost. Without the skills I needed, I felt I was trapped.

It’s not like I really was missing much at this point in time, though. Once getting to a point where you’re viable against the PvE monsters, you can fight them (orly?) and, possibly, beat them. However, the PvE is a rather lacking experience and isn’t very rewarding at any point in time. There are apparently world bosses in the game, or still coming soon, but I was never able to experience them.

Other than that, you can either build, or you can fight other players. Again, other than the feeling of might some players get when destroying the property of others, or when killing another player, there’s really no reward or motivation for doing such acts. You can build yourself a nice little house, but I don’t really know if there’s all that much reason to, due to a lack of customization.

Graphics

The graphics are slowly getting better. They’re not stellar, but at least the textures are getting to the point where they’re all of high resolution. Other than that, the trees are of specific notablity, due to the fact that they’re absolutely horrendous.

The first person viewpoint, however, did feel very immersive. There was all sorts of motion blur, and even when doing mundane things like mining, chopping trees, or even attacking someone, the camera followed your character’s face almost faithfully.

Sound

There’s really not much sound in the game, and the sounds don’t change much throughout the game. After hearing the stepping noise for the thousandth time, or the swoosh of a weapon, or the chopping of wood, it might get a bit annoying, especially since there isn’t any background music. At all.

Community

The community is…well, to say it straight, the community, especially in the newbie areas, is absolutely horrendous. There are PKers, thieves, and even all sorts of people that “push” you to get you to attack them, then call the guards to kill you, and steal your stuff. There are schemers, there are loud mouths, and then there are the people that will ignore every plea for help just to advance their own agenda. I never once saw anyone really “friendly” even after saying “hi” to about two dozen people.

Value

Given that the game is European, and it’s not “re-priced” for people in the U.S., it has the enormously high price of $58. For some people, it could be worth it to relive the days of hardcore MMOs in a new place, with more modern graphics. However, for the rest of us, it’s just an overpriced indie game that probably should be a budget title. Even with a free month, it can’t come anywhere near competing with games like Xsyon, which will run you $40 for the client and 2 months of free play after release, as well as a unique item.

Overall

The game, like EvE in its release days, is very, very bare bones. There are only very basic systems in place and they’ve hardly been fleshed out to where they could be. It’s also easily just as confusing and, even in the later game, features very little direction at all. A lot of people are hoping this might be the next Ultima Online, or go the way of EvE, but it’s yet to be seen if it will even survive its first year. I’d be hard-pressed to say it will, though, seeing as the company has already had a few financial issues and the game was released in an inadequate state.

Divine Souls is a new free-to-play Action-Fighting MMORPG developed by South Korea-based GamePrix and published by Outspark USA. Featuring unique character classes, imposing weapons, and non-stop action and combos, Divine Souls will be funded through an item shop, which will sell vanity items as well as useful gear comparable to what you’d find in game.

Background story

The Zeplar Drive changed everything. The discovery of the Divine Matter made it possible. When Dr. Burke placed a tiny amount of the shimmering liquid into a small engine, his starship was able to travel to the ends of the galaxy. We hoped the new technology would bring a new era of peace and trade between the planets. We were wrong.

Too late, we learned that the Divine Matter was altering us all, changing our very existence. At first, the changes were small. People on different planets started to transform. A few at the beginning, then more and more. Some received new-found abilities and powers. Some started to become something different and darker, losing their humanity along the way.

We had still hoped that those who retained their humanity could band together, and usher in a new era of peace. But all it seemed to do was hasten humanity’s capability for war and greed. Why is it hot:
The game looks, and seems to play like the hit Capcom MMORPG, Monster Hunter Frontier. Monster Hunter Frontier is one of the biggest MMORPG in Japan, and China’s players have longed to try the Chinese version of the game. The similarity between Hunter Blade’s screenshots and Monster Hunter Frontier’s actual gameplay looked so similar that Capcom has voiced out its displeasure, and asked JoyChina, the developer, to clarify. The accusation was of course thrown out, and JoyChina rejected the claims as mere harmless comments.
Another point on why the game is hot is due to Monster Hunter Frontier being a monthly subscription game, while Hunter Blade is set to be Free to Play. Capcom has since announced that they will not be localizing Monster Hunter Frontier for the China gamers, hence the huge interest in Hunter Blade.

Dungeon Bandits is the Tournament-Based dungeon crawler from PlayEnvy that takes players deep into a humorous, monster-filled world of treasure hunting. Players face off against each other in teams of up to 5 members during a capture-the-treasure scenario. Battling dungeon monsters and mini-bosses, players must use skillful strategy to get the upper hand on the opposing team and carry the treasure out of the dungeon.

During various testing phases, PlayEnvy is introducing new content and new systems into the hilarious world of Dungeon Bandits. Closed Beta will be held in 3 day phases, phase 1 will be held 12:00PM PST on Jan 22nd until 12:00PM PST Jan 24th.
