Kung Fu Knights is an browser MMORPG based on Heroes of Kung Fu, developed by Chinese game company 9Wee. Heroes of Kung Fu was not very well received when it was released in 2009, and although Kung Fu Knights is based on this game, it has been stressed that it should not be seen as a sequel.

The basic objective of the browser game Kung Fu Knights is the same as most role playing games, to work on levelling up your character. To do this in Kung Fu Knights, you must collect experience points, which can be gained through defeating others in battles, and completing certain tasks. What is different in this game however, is that when you defeat others, it’s not just experience points you gain.

Not only does Kung Fu knights offer you a chance to collect Gold and EXP, but it allows you to battle other players.  You must head over to the Arena, where all battles in the browser-based game Kung Fu Knights take place. Not only will the winner be rewarded experience points to level up their character, they will also be given honour points, which in turn can be exchanged for items and props for your character. Something which is quite unique, is that the winner can then claim the loser as their slave, a position in which they must perform their master’s dirty work for them. They can do this by heading over to the slave market. Here, there will a list of their previously defeated opponents. By challenging and defeating them once more, they will then be turned into the winner’s slave. The longer they are kept as a slave, the more experience points the winner will gain, thus increasing their character level much faster. Be aware however, other players will be able to steal your slave from you, and if you begin treating your slave too badly, they will start fighting back against you.

Another unique feature in Kung Fu Knights is the Mentor system. All players can choose a mentor, by going to the Sociality section in the game. Gaining a mentor will be useful to both players. As a player, your mentor will guide you whenever you need help, and will periodically give you special gifts and rewards, and also each time you level up. A useful hint to new players; If you choose your mentor within the first three hours of your first login, you will receive 100 bonus points!

While the graphics are not something to rave about, the slave and mentor system are something quite unique and interesting that certainly merit a try at this game. Signup is free, so nothing is stopping you at trying your hand!
