Horse Saga the Facebook simulation game is all about horses! You can nurture and train your horses and take part in competitions. Realistic breeding mechanics allow you to create beautiful and unique horses that can be equipped with stylish horse tack, like saddles and bridles.

Horses and Actions

You can spend one of your Action Points to perform an Action with one of your horses. Your Action Points recharge over time and you can refill them using an Action Pack. With every new level, your Action Point Capacity increases by one.

Every horse has four Care Factors: nutrition, happiness, cleanliness and energy. Many important Actions, such as training or taking part in a competition, eat up the points of one or more of these Care Factors. In order to refill your horse’s Care Factors, you have to perform more Actions, like feeding, petting or cleaning.

Training and Competitions

Every horse has a so-called Proficiency Factor. A high proficiency is the key to success in all kinds of competitions. To raise a horse’s proficiency you need to train it. Every horse has an inherited maximum proficiency that can’t be exceeded by training – once this value has been reached, you don’t need to train that horse anymore.

Competitions are the best way to earn money and gain experience. If you enter a horse in a competition you have to decide how long that competition will last in real-time. While a horse is in a competition you cannot perform any other Action with it.

Breeding and Lifecycle

To get horses with a higher proficiency or with certain physical characteristics, you have to breed. Breeding is done in the Breeding pop-up window, which can be accessed directly via the main screen. In this pop-up you can select one of your mares for breeding. You can couple it with one of your stallions, or use a genetic sample from either the breeding station or your Riding Pals to inseminate it. Then your mare will be pregnant for a certain amount of real-time, during which it won’t be able to perform any other Action.

Each horse has three stages of life: when a horse is born it is still a foal, then it grows into an adult, and finally turns old. Every time a horse sleeps, its age points increase by one. When a certain age is reached the horse enters its next stage of life.

Foal Education

Infancy is the most important stage of any horse’s life: you can lay the groundwork for a foal’s adulthood by performing exclusive education Actions that can only be done with foals. Each foal will grow into an adult at a different age, between 5 and 10 age points.

Certain education Actions promote your horse’s talents. Talents are skills, and they come in different levels: as the levels increase, the talent’s power increases. Some talents produce special effects if you manage to bring them to their maximum level.

Progress

You gain experience points for every Action you perform with your horses. Some Actions, like doing competitions or helping your Riding Pals, will be rewarded with more experience points. When you have reached a certain amount of experience points you will move on to the next level. As you progress from level to level you unlock new features and content, such as new breeds, more horse boxes, more efficient Actions and new competition disciplines. There are a lot of goals you can reach – take a look at them in the Player Profile pop-up, which is accessible via the main screen. Achievements are rewarded with experience points – so make sure you don’t miss them!

Horse Cash

Horse Cash is a special currency that you need to buy special items, certain horse breeds or individual horse boxes. With every new level you gain one unit of Horse Cash. In addition, every time one of your horses passes away, it may leave one Cash unit behind. If you are eager to get your Horse Cash faster, you can click on the “Get Horse Coins and Cash” tab to buy a package.

Shop

The Shop is accessible via the main screen. There you can buy new horses, goodies, equipment and backgrounds. Every 24 hours, the horse dealer offers you one horse of any of the breeds you have already unlocked.
Goodies are little snacks you can administer to your horses to receive bonuses, boosts or even affect their genetics to create foals with desired characteristics. Equipment items, such as saddles or bridles, are not required to enter competitions or to perform specific Actions. The goodies, equipment and backgrounds you own are stored in your inventory. There you can click on any item to directly apply it to your current horse.

Riding Pals

Share your gaming experience with your friends for even more fun! In the game, you and your friends are called Riding Pals. Riding Pals can keep track of each other’s progress and support each other in various ways:

* every day you can select items to send to your Riding Pals for free
* you can donate genetic samples of your stallions that only your Riding Pals will be able to use for breeding
* Riding Pals can cheer each other on in competitions to increase their chances of winning
* in the Shop you can buy gift items as presents to your Riding Pals
* you can help each other out by performing basic Care Actions on your Riding Pals’ horses
